Mini Max needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping him get a new start?

All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.

Tiny little Mini Max has one goal in life - to sit in your lap. He loves the warmth, the feeling of safety, and the attention. He is a grand, loving, tiny dog and currently feels so lost without a person to love him back. He was born to be cuddled and spoiled. Somehow, his world has come crashing down and he hopes every single day that someone will come for him and make him their own. His foster says "He is a lovable lapdog who just wants to be with you.  He is friendly with everyone and just wants to play with every dog that he meets.   He gets along with young children, although would not recommend smaller children because of Max's small size.  But Max wants to play with big dogs, little dogs, kids, he is a happy boy.  He would need to have a fenced yard since he can run like the wind.  He needs a new lap of his very own." Maybe you can volunteer YOUR lap?
A SPECIAL NOTE TO YOU FROM HIS FOSTER:Max definitely knows his name. He attaches to his person quickly too. He loves to sleep RIGHT NEXT to you curled up on a ball under the sheets at night. But then he likes to be with you all the time. At this point, he follows me everywhere 98+% of the time. I think he is starting to get to the point where he will not follow me a bit here & there. He does NOT like to be left alone. Though you can distract him with a treat to get out the door. I have not crated him here. But he does fine being left in a room on his own. If he is completely free roaming, he will wait for me at the bottom of the steps to the door to my apartment & whine the whole time. I think he whines less when he is contained in the room. As soon as I get back, even if I was gone 15 minutes, you would think it was 15 years. He jumps, whines, & is so excited. He seems to want to go out when I get back too.

He LOVES to go for walks! He has a luxating patella in his rear right leg which he holds up if he walks fast. If he kicks out his back legs after going to the bathroom, he will hold that leg out a while. One of our walking paths has a go-between 2 alleys. There is a small wall to step over. (Well, small to you & me but to Max…) The other day, he insisted on going over himself which he did fine with. But it must have bothered his leg b/c he held it up for a little bit after that & did now & then the rest of the day. Next day, he seemed ok.   He will back up & prepare to jump up on the couch. But he needs pet steps to get up on the bed. It took 1 time of using treats to get him to go up them & he uses them all the time now.

If he could, he would love to have a yard where he could sun worship.  Though I would not say that is necessarily a deal breaker because he seems to like to walk. In fact, when I tell him we have to go back in b/c I have to keep working, he is not happy about it.  But the ability to be able to sun worship is definitely a bonus.

He LOVES food. He will relentlessly let you know when it is dinnertime. If he is with a cat, he will try to eat the cat food. But he is still trim. He enjoys playing with other dogs. When he is on leash & a bigger dog or really any sized dog that it over exuberant or pushy, he is not happy with that. But never started a fight. He is fine with my cat, Porter, even when Porter swipes at him. When Porter chases or goes after him with more force, he will make noises & runs. He doesn’t seem to care about chew toys or toys in general. But he will play bow when you get home & bark & zoom around.
