Learn more about the German Shepherd Dog.
All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.

Tyson has not had a good time of it so far in his life, and while neglect and abuse is terrible for any dog, for a German shepherd, with that legendary loyalty built in, it is particualrly horrific. He has this overwhelming desire to love and protect, and up to this point in his life, there has been no one who will take this greatest gift he can give. He has been waiting and waiting for that person. During that time, his streak of bad luck has continued. He was hit by a car, and laid in a ditch for 2 days before Animal Control got him. He did get up and walk to the officer, grateful for the touch of a human. yes, he's that kind of dog. He is very underweight and is now coming to Reach Out Rescue & Resources where we will get him healthy and find him that special home. Perhaps you are the one he has been looking for. This beautiful boy will give you his whole heart, all for only a gentle caress from your hand.
A SPECIAL NOTE TO YOU FROM HIS FOSTER: Tyson is shy at first then progressively warms up to people. He is always around my legs because he knows I am in charge of his stomach and the cooking in general ;) He is very shy with outspoken dogs. He is fine with kids and babies, good with visitors - as far as I could notice no issue. I don't know about cats. I presume he might chase them initially out of curiosity but could easily be trained to accept them. I don't know about leash capabilities. He is usually not too far from me during the walk. Not a run away type once he likes his place and buddies though. Very sweet and gentle otherwise. Just loves to drop dead for hours close to the heating ducts ;) Will bark when he feels at home with his folks.
