Login to Remember your Favorite Animals and Breeds! |
All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.
About Gypsy | |
|
|
Sweet Gypsy is a purebred Maremma shepherd. The name of the breed stands for complete loyalty to her family. These dogs were bred for absolute devotion, even to the death, for their herd or family. Gypsy has learned so much in her short life and it is a real testament to her huge intelligence. She knows how to "sit", walks well on her leash, is great with other dogs, and dearly loves to play fetch. A big, sturdy girl, nobody has ever told her she is disabled in any way and she wouldn't believe them if they did. She was born without one of her legs and has learned since birth to navigate very well on three strong legs. She is young, healthy, and ready to bond so tightly with you and your family. She would love space to run and play and looks forward to walks on the other end of your leash and head pats at the end of each day. She will love you with a love like no other and you will find her joy in living a gift each day that your are together.
Gypsy will require a fenced yard and another dog to play with.
A SPCIAL NOTE TO YOU FROM HER FOSTER: Gypsy is one special girl! Three legs do not slow this girl down one bit. She really can do everything a dog with 4 legs can do. It took her a couple weeks to get the confidence to take the stair, but now she loves to show off how quickly she can make it up and down. She absolutely loves other dogs and would really do best in a home with another dog. She was very shy and timid when she first came to us, but having another dog around really helped her settle in.
Although Maremma's are traditionally outdoor guarding dogs, Gypsy is a wonderful girl to have as a family pet. She does like to spend the day outside as much as she can playing with our dog. But she comes inside and settles down just fine at night. She loves to sleep right next to everyone.
Gypsy will need a family that will be patient with her and give her time to settle into new surroundings. But once she does she will be the love of your life!
Must have fenced yard.

Special Needs: This lovely girl was born without one of her legs, but since she has never known what it was like to have 4, she is quite agile on her remaining healthy three legs.
