Journey needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping him get a new start?
All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.

WOW, Journey is SUCH a great dog!!! He has a loving charming and laid-back personality that everyone falls in love with- at the vet, at the pet store, on walks, etc. He was obviously once a beloved pet because he is well cared-for and well-trained. He has excellent house manners: he never, ever, jumps on people or furniture, he doesn't beg or get into the trash, he doesn't chew or over-bark, he has no food or resource aggression or guarding, he sits and waits for food and treats and leash. He even sits and waits to be invited in and out of the door. He had an accident on his first day here and that's it - he is perfectly housebroken once he knows the house. He gets along with all 3 dogs in my house and both cats too (though he does sometimes bark at them if they are ignoring him). He goes outside in the yard with my dogs and also walks well on the leash with a gentle leader - he is a big strong boy who can pull, so I would recommend a gentle leader or other assistive device when walking him. He easily romps off leash with strange dogs at the dog park with no problems. He fetches - and he drops the ball at your feet and sits and waits for you to throw it again, without whining. What a cool, cool dog. We adore him.
Journey's greatest wish in life is to be near his human pack. If you are home he will settle himself near your feet and spread out on the floor, never bothering you but always wanting to be near you. He sleeps on the floor next to my son's bed and my son says he doesn't move or fuss all night, and he waits calmly for me to come get him in the morning even when every other animal in the house is making a ruckus demanding to be fed or let out! He crates on command and although he doesn't love the crate (he'd rather be with YOU!), he will settle calmly. But he'd so much rather be with you. It would be great for him to go to a home where someone is home at least part of the day.
If you are looking for an already-trained, well-mannered, medium-energy, stately yet playful, loyal loving big beautiful boy to bring home, this sweet guy is for you!
A SPECIAL NOTE TO YOU FROM HIS FOSTER: I can see how easily it would be to become attached to this guy. He loves to play. He now has a whole herd of critters in the office. Each time he is out and about the house he adopts another one. Pretty soon there will be more toys and no more room for him. He is definitely a people pup because he is right there where you are and preferably velcroed to you. He does perfectly in the crate by the bed. He patiently/quietly waits while I get showered and dressed (the same as my girl who doesn't budge until I head down the steps!). He is having absolutely not problems eating! All is good.Other Pictures of Journey (click to see larger version):
