Winnie needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping her get a new start?

All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.

Winnie knows what it is like to be thrown away and forgotten. She has a lifetime of experience in that sad place, but it hasn't taken away her sweet and gentle nature. She still hopes, every day, that somehow, before the end, she will have someone who will care for her and treat her with loving hands. She would be so grateful for just the simplest things in life...a soft bed, food in her bowl, a quiet walk, but mostly in her dreams it's someone who will love her. Perhaps you are the one who will be her angel.

Winnie does have dry eye, which needs eye drops, but we have surgically repaired her "cherry eyes".

A special note to you from her foster:  I take her into my office with me & she will just curl up at my feet. I don't think she is used to being on people furniture or sitting on someone's lap, but I am working on the snuggling thing. She is very calm and quiet when I treat her eyes & ears. She loves to go for a walk & is very good on a leash. She has to be kept close because she will walk right into things.  I would not recommend her being with children or someone who wants a dog to play with or sleep with. She is a sweetie & affectionate with me but can get irritated if you try to get her to do something she does not want to do. I guess that is typical Cocker. She is happy being right next to her person. She is old & sleeps a lot. She doesn't get on the furniture but doesn't like being put on the furniture either.  I feed her separately & make sure there is no other food bowls on the floor when she is in the family room with the other dogs. I think she would eat until she exploded if given the chance.

She likes to go for walks, although not really long walks because she gets tired. She is housebroken, and sleeps in her bed in her play yard at night. I also keep her in there when no one is home & she is very happy. She eats a combination of weight-control dry & canned foods - I mix them together. She likes to ride in the car but has to be lifted up - she is too plump to jump up herself. She is good with other dogs and with cats. I'm thinking she would be a good companion for an older person or couple.
