Chompers needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping him get a new start?
All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.

I picked up Chompers and he has been an amazing dog since the moment I brought him home.
He is very playful and energetic when he first meets someone and wants to play and be scratched and petted. But he soon settles down. Really, it seems like he has been her forever. I was amazed at how quickly her calmed down and even went into his crate on his own for some down time.
He has excellent house manners. He is a complete snuggle bug and wants nothing more than to be right by your side no matter where that is. He likes to get very close to his people.
He is not bad on a leash but he does pull a bit so will need to learn some leash manners. I would not recommend that the kids walk him without an adult until the kids are comfortable handling him. Of course, the whole family should go through training together to ensure that Chompers gets the best chance to be the best dog he can be. The only command he seems to know is sit but does come when called if he is in the house.
He is not a big barker nor does he jump up on people though he may the first time he meets you.
He likes to chase tennis balls and loves his chew toys. He does not appear to be resource aggressive and will let you take a bone from him.
He has no recall so will need to be on a leash at all times when outside.
I have take him out about 5 times a day for potty breaks and he does his business and heads for the door. I guess he likes to be toasty warm.
He is on the small side for a lab so I think he is the perfect guy to snuggle on the coach with and watch some football. I think the age of the kids is perfect for Chompers. He is playful but does not get out of control and I have seen no signs of aggression at all. He lets me touch his feet, check his teeth and ears. He has had no accidents but I have been with him for the last two days. I only created him at night just in case but otherwise, he has the run of the house. He has not chewed anything but his chew toys.
Based on the short time this guy has been with us, he really is about as perfect a family dog as it gets.
