Rhett Dog needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping him get a new start?

All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.

Well hello, and welcome to my webpage.  My name is Rhett, and although they say I am somewhere around 7-8 years old, I certainly don’t act like it!  I like to play, and goof around.  I am just starting to learn how to grab and play with a ball.  I will quickly run outside, but hang close to my humans.  I have never really been outside much, so that will take some getting used to.  I did notice the squirrels, and have had some experience with cats.  I love to chase them-so I probably need a home without them!

I am quite the cuddlebug, and am quite content to lay on the floor next to your feet.  I do not climb on furniture, but once I helped myself to the box of dog treats on the bottom shelf of the pantry. They are like potato chips-who can eat just one! I’ve been a little out of sorts because I don’t quite understand what happened to my owner. Dogs just don’t understand what it means to ”pass away.” I don’t bark a lot, but I will bark if someone strange enters the house.  I will lick you, and love you if you take me into your home. I am tolerant of new dogs, but I do get jealous and would probably like it if I could be the only one.
A SPECIAL NOTE TO YOU FROM HIS FOSTER: Rhett is a happy guy, a licker.  He gets jealous if you pay more attention to another dog and will make sure you notice him. He is also very good in the car without a crate and will lay down and fall asleep. He is well-behaved on the leash and does not seem to be bothered by other dogs. He is excited about cats and will want to "play". He is also very good about being in the crate at night. Rhett is a furry love bug, a kissaholic on four legs.   He is housebroken, does not chew up things, rarely barks and just plain adorable.

HISTORY: Rhett and his sister Scarlett came from a family whose mother had passed away and were considered a pair.  The adjustment has been difficult for him.  Right now, it has been recommended that Rhett go to a home without Scarlett, and that he go to a home with no other animals, and no children-just as a precaution.  He suffers from anxiety, and will need someone who is home most of the time, so he doesn't feel abandoned. The vet says he CAN do a turnaround with the right love and security. The vet is also there to support you with all the help and guidance he can give.  Are you home most of the time? Do you have a quiet home and time to give this boy what he needs? Could you see him feeling good again and being a wonderful furry friend?

ADDED NOTE: Rhett as anxiety and guards his toys and food from other animals, so it will be best for him to be an only pet. He is a handsome boy and just wants someone to love him.
