Look into Shawnee's eyes and you will see the hope there that you are going to be the one who will make her all your own and will love her back as much as she wants to love you. This super sweet angel of a dog loves everyone in the world. Still quite young at only 2 years old, she is also the perfect dog for anyone who loves the look of a shepherd, but would like a smaller package. She is just about half the size of a regular shepherd. We would even call her dainty! Her desire to please is amazing. She is going to be so easy to train, as she will look at you with total concentration , trying so hard to be a good dog and do what you want her to do. Good with other dogs, , she would be a wonderful girl to bring home if you are looking for a friend for your current canine.  We believe that you will find that Shawnee may very well be the best dog you have ever had. She combines so much sweetness into her small size that you might be tempted to rename her "Sugar". Or maybe "Honey". Yes, she's that good.

NOTE:  Surprise! Shawnee came into the rescue pregnant and recently delivered a healthy litter of puppies.  She will not be available until after her puppies are weaned.  She will also need to undergo heartworm treatment, which we will take care of.  This little lady turned out to be full of surprises. She will be ready for her forever home the first or second week of August, by which time she should be finished with her heart worm treatment and her puppies will all have found homes. A SPECIAL NOTE TO YOU FROM HER FOSTER: Shawnee just gave birth to 5 puppies on 6/15/2015. She also is heart worm positive. So between weaning puppies in about 6 weeks and treatment for heart worms - she won't be available until August.  Shawnee is a very calm loving dog. She loves being petted. She is not a playful dog. So far far Shawnee has ignored my cat. She had a very rough start to life. She would need a very calm family that's willing to work with her to earn her trust. She interacts very well my 2 grand kids ages 13 & 11.  She is housebroken for the most part. Every now and then I have to remind her to go outside to potty.
I do have fenced in yard with a doggy door. She is afraid of a leash. She lays down and quivers when I attach a leash to her. This is something that could turned around after she knows the leash is not going to be used on her. I'm assuming some one in her past used a leash or belt to beat her. Shawnee is young but is  old in her behavior . She has very old soul eyes .
