Murphy
Once again, it was just meant to be!!! Murphy has found his forever home!
UPDATE: How are you? It's been a while since I gave you an update on our MurphMan. He's quite the boy! He has learned all kinds of important things that any fur boy should know. He loves his puppy cookies and has learned from our herders how to herd Mom into the dining room where she keeps the stash. He does his silly boy dance, complete with head dips and twisting and hops and then "leads" Mom into the dining room from behind, in true herding fashion. He's reminded that he's a guard dog not a herder, but it's terribly cute. Then he sits like a champ waiting for his prize. We still get lots of smiles when he's excited and when any of us arrive home.
Murphey enjoys his car rides tremendously. Head out the window when allowed and the slobber just flies. He likes to ride in the back seat so he can reach the window, however, he's not supposed to ride in the back seat. The other day, I was talking to someone he didn't know by my car. He was so frantic inside the car that he ended up in the drivers seat and, at some point, hit the button that locks all the doors! I went to get back in and found everything locked...grrr! Fortunately, I had my keys in my pocket, so all was good!.
He's such a big baby! We've discovered that he doesn't like to go out to take care of business...when it's raining, at all! If we've been out for a while, we will come home to find the contents of our upstairs trash baskets strewn through the hall, and on our bed. He has been known to get up on our older sons bed and get things off of his bed and take it with him and chew it. Connor's underwear may end up in the hallway along with the contents of his trash basket.
He is a wonderful guard dog. He may like to sleep with us and Baxter at night in our bed, but he has claimed Connor's bed, which is under the front upstairs window, as his own lookout tower. He likes to lay on the bed and have his nose and front feet out the window to keep an eye on his domain. He pushed the screen out the other day. Connor did secure it better but I insist that the window be closed enough that he can't slip out by accidentl Then there was the time when the African American Fedex guy brought a package and Murphey and Baxter where "welcoming" him from the front downstairs window. He never did bring the package to the house, he left it a short distance up the driveway and had to stretch to put it down there. He said he was afraid of the dogs. I still have a good chuckle over that. A few months ago, we took him to the outlets in Gettysburg and he was an instant hit. So many people stopped to meet him and ask about him. He was fine until a number of people surrounded him and he was a little uncomfortable about that. But they soon left and he was fine. Until another bigger dog passed by and he got territorial but they kept going, so no problem there.
Murphey had his first professional grooming about a month ago. It went well but she couldn't finish with him because he clearly had had enough, so we'll try again maybe next week so he can get used to being groomed. He doesn't let us do too much here before he leaves ;)
Our Murphey has come a long way since he joined our family. The other two dogs have grown accustomed to him and Baxter actually will allow Murphey to lay against him. He's our skiddish child. He hasn't been to the vet recently but, he had put on a few pounds but better yet, he filled out in the shoulders and hips. He loves his cookies and anything food, and has no problem accepting it from our hands. I've been trying to fork feed him. He's not quite there yet, but I'm confident. He especially likes chicken and waffles. Ok, we spoil our furries here. And yes, that's waffles WITH syrup!
Well, this is just a snapshot of our life with Murphey!
He sends slobbery kisses and we send our best wishes!
