Bilbo has an adoption pending, however we encourage you to apply anyway in case we consider other applications.

All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.

Meet Bilbo Baggins! (And if you aren’t a Lord of the Rings fan, he answers to Billy also!) This relatively chill, young, perfectly medium-sized hound ended up in the shelter with a number spray-painted on his side late last year, and oh how far he has come since! He’s affectionate, smart, listens, comes when called, is house and crate trained, and gets along with other dogs of all sizes and ages. Bilbo also likes children 8 and above (he hasn’t met any younger than that.) He’s very agile and has lots of energy for playing and running, but then comes inside and is also happy curling up on the sofa with you, or in an empty easy chair or dog bed. Bilbo enjoys car rides and exploring new things, too. He also doesn’t seem to have much or any prey drive. His foster said he can still be a little jittery or get startled by loud or strange noises or movements, and he’s on a low-cost daily med to help him with that. We don’t know his history before he came to us, of course, but he’s happy being part of the family and flexing to whatever his family is doing!
