We will never know what happened earlier in Taro's life, but he  wandered  into just the right yard recently. This lady loved dogs and could never turn one away. Soon, with a full belly for the first time in a long time, and a soft place to lie down, Taro finally felt safe.  You could make something so wonderful happen!  Taro is a big, strong boy, and his name means "eldest son" in Japanese. His temperament, in spite of the abuse he must have suffered, without food, without safety, has remained amazing. He is a calm, sweet dog, who has gotten along well with other dogs he has met, and even cats. This big boy is a marshmellow on the inside! He will love you and yours with his very being. He has been so grateful for anything we have done for him, right down to the gift of a blanket. If you have it in your heart to make the world a better place and to give Taro  be assured that he will return what you do many times over. Big dog, even bigger heart! Gentle and sweet, he would love to be all yours.
UPDATE FROM HIS FOSTER: If you are looking for a large, lovable goofball, you won't go wrong with Taro. He's a big ole boy, part mastiff,  his size matched only by his incredibly happy disposition.  He labors under the misconception that he is a lap dog and lays on my lap while I am watching tv.  He has learned the command "put your head down" so that I can see the tv screen. Taro is fully housebroken.  He is not a barker, he doesn't need to be....he size says it all.  That being said, I don't think he has a bite in him.  He loves kids, adults and playing with other dogs.  Taro loves his stuffed toys, especially the ones that squeak. He would love to live with older kids,  (he might accidently knock over a toddler, which he would immediately regret). Taro is a sweetheart.  Everybody loves him.  He is a once in a lifetime dog.
