Scooby
Hello All,
Please forward over to anyone that helped Scooby come to Jim and I. Scooby seems like he will fit right in around here... His mannerisms are very similiar to Jim's. He is adjusting to all the newness and life as a city dog, but Jim will show him the ropes. Jim will also try to teach him to lift his leg when he goes to the bathroom too! We had a couple of accidents. A tinkle yesterday right as we got back from Frederick after a mile walk and a number two this morning right after a two mile walk. He warned me for the number two, but I just couldnt get dry clothes back on fast enough. I know we'll get there. It will just take some time to get more comfortable with city living. Eating has been fine and without issue. Jim and Scooby play like they're brothers and take turns flopping on the ground. Scooby has preferred the ball over the rope so far, but I think once he gets his bearings he'll like the rope more!
Thanks to everyone for joining Scooby and us together!!
Spots
Greetings! Well, it has been three weeks today that Frodo (formerly known as Spots) officially came into our lives. What a fabulous guy he is! Healthy, happy, a little nutty, full of energy...and such a little love bug! We're working on house-training, and he is still not overly comfortable with people he doesn't know, but he warms up quickly with a few treats and a gentle hand. He's incredibly smart (smarter than us most days, I think!); we've taught him a few tricks already and are start training class with him on Tuesday.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to adopt Frodo! Thank you as well for all the wonderful things RORR does for animals that deserve nothing less than the best.
With much appreciation,
Kent, Amy, Christian, and Lucas Buhrman
Sugar Magnolia
Hi there,
I'm writing to let you know how happy we are with our adopted dog Twix; we got her from RORR through Marsha Brogdan at The Missing Link, this past February. I also would like to let people know that adopting an older dog is just as wonderful as getting a new puppy!
My husband and I were ready and excited to add a dog to our household and we knew we wanted to adopt one. Only we didn't want to go through the challenges of raising a new puppy - and were aware of all the older dogs that need homes. We did our homework and selected a dog that would meet our active lifestyle; we adopted one year old Twix and all of us couldn't be happier! She's a complete love bug, quick-witted, and a great source of fun! To be fair, even older dogs present challenges when they find themselves in a new home. Twix adapted to our household quickly but initially experienced separation anxiety when we would leave her alone in the house to run a quick errand, for example. We worked to make her feel safe in her new environment by providing trust through obedience lessons, a more stable routine, more structure and patience. After several months she became more relaxed and today is perfectly comfortable in her new home.
Thank you for the good work that you do in helping these dogs find families to care for them. I'll send along a few pictures under separate email feel free to share them along with our success story in adopting Twix!

Sampson
Last night went great! Sampson, Frank, George, Todd and I went for a walk around the circle. Sampson sure was excited to see his new surroundings! He saw a bird, a cat, other walkers and a dog and kept himself right in line with us!
When we got home we put the boys to bed and headed downstairs for a little quiet time, and he was right between me and Todd taking turns being loved. We played on the floor with him and he seemed as happy as can be. Here is a picture of him looking quite handsome!
